Sign Installation Technician

DESCRIPTION

The Sign Installation Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of a wide variety of interior and exterior signage. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety while working independently and as part of a team. The technician serves as a representative of the company at customer locations and is expected to provide exceptional customer service while ensuring projects are completed accurately and on schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install a variety of commercial signs, including illuminated, non-illuminated, vinyl graphics, dimensional letters, channel letters, monument signs, and wayfinding signage.
  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, shop drawings, and installation specifications to ensure accurate installation.
  • Safely operate company vehicles, lifts, cranes, ladders, scaffolding, and other installation equipment.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to assemble, install, and secure signage according to company and industry standards.
  • Perform site surveys and verify installation requirements before beginning work.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and make field adjustments as needed while maintaining quality standards.
  • Conduct service calls, maintenance, and repairs on existing signage.
  • Ensure all installations comply with applicable safety regulations, local building codes, and customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate installation documentation, photographs, and service reports.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, customers, and fellow team members regarding project progress and any field or safety concerns.
  • Maintain company equipment, vehicles, tools, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Represent the company professionally while providing outstanding customer service at all job sites.
  • Primary work environment for this position is outdoors and requires the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and heights up to 100 ft.
  • Establish effective lines of communication with all teammates, including constructive feedback.
  • Provide guidance and leadership in a manner to optimize overall morale of all field staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in commercial sign installation, construction, electrical work, carpentry, or related trade preferred.
  • Knowledge of equipment operations and materials.
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA Regulations and/or familiarity with government standards publications preferred.
  • Good driving record.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and high level of accountability.
  • Some Midwest area travel is required.

EDUCATION

Qualified candidates should have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in sign manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or a similar production role preferred.
  • Welding experience preferred, especially with aluminum, light metal, or steel.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, measurements, and templates.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic mechanical ability and comfort using hand tools and light machinery.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a production environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to follow safety procedures and company policies.
